Doctor Who V2 #7
IDW Publishing (July, 2011)WRITER: Tony Lee ARTIST: Matthew Dow Smith COVER: Charlie Kirchoff LETTERER: Neil Uyetake & Shawn Lee EDITOR: Denton J. Tipton COVER “A” (shown): Tommy Lee Edwards Question for IDW: Why do you bother having the comic’s art team make a cover if it is just going to be a retailer incentive cover? And gives you a better idea about the comic inside than the cover you made your primary cover?
Our heroes are trapped between time periods, meeting another stranded tourist, Lisa, and various versions of the Sontarans. In fact everyone has a doppelganger now, and they take up a lot of room. Of course, the Sontarans (who reproduce by cloning) are more than happy with this situation.
What they got right: I can’t really point to one moment and say “this is the good part”. It’s just an overall good story, and the introduction of Lisa is also well done.
What they got wrong: I guess if I had to choose it would be to ask why Lisa spends so much time with her eyes closed. It doesn’t make her look Asian (which I think is what they were going for), it makes her look asleep or blind, and she acts like neither is the case.
Recommendation: I may just be too tired right now to think, but I can still judge a good story and this qualifies.
I can’t point to a “Best Scene” either. Everything works as part of the overall story.
