Looks like the BBQ got out of hand again.

Robotech II: The Sentinels book 3 #11

Academy Comics, Ltd (November, 1994)

“Where The Wild Things Are”

LETTERING: Alphabet Soup

The SDF-7 arrives at Garuda. After a briefing a drop team of Rick, Lisa, Cabell, Rem, Jack, Karen, Burak, Kami, Learna, Gnea, Lron, and Crysta head for the planet and run into a squad of Bioroids, who are now allied with the Garudans after the Robotech Masters’ occupation was replaced with the Invid occupation. Rick, Lisa, Karen, Jack, Rem, and Kami head for the Hive to make sure no Garudans will be hurt in the attack, only to run into an Invid scout…and odds are this one won’t be on their side.

What they got right: Rick has become quite the strategist, thinking about not getting themselves caught or giving away their position. Despite the planet being toxic to non-residents the Bioroid pilots have somehow developed an immunity, though not all of them, and it will be interesting to see if anything comes of that. Also interesting is that the pilots learn to enjoy their freedom when cut off from the Robotech Masters.

What they got wrong: Nobody mentioned the Bioroid pilots have eyes like the Garudans, with no pupils. Kami somehow forgetting that Tirolians are part of their guardians now seems made to make the surprise moment. How did Qwazi, the village shaman, know Admiral Hunter’s name and rank?

Recommendation: Another good showing but not on its own. It is a good chapter to the story though, and starting point for the Garuda storyline.

  1. Sean says:

I definitely detect shamanism on that cover. The Robotech Sentinels comic books sound quite interesting because they explore various planets with many different cultural practices.
