With Pike’s help the cadets take down some of the Jem’Hadar but the rest are still preparing their plan to use Talos as a testing ground for the eventual destruction of all telepaths, the Talosians being the most powerful in the sector. Pava infiltrates the enemy encampment to destroy the shield blocking them from destroying their Ketracel White, the drug the Founders use to control the Jem’Hadar, in the hopes of better stopping them. However, she is seriously hurt and T’Prell is having some curious emotional reactions, including how she takes the bad guys out once the shield is down. Learning that Pike was actually a Talosian illusion created from their memories and the finest traits of the cadets, our heroes return home to face a death penalty trial (visiting Talos is the only death penalty on the books), but finds Ambassador Spock wishes to serve as their counsel.

What they got right: There’s a lot of good action and a good reveal of how “Pike” is there. Terrible as it is seeing Pava injured it’s what they do with it that matter. This is also a good lead-in to the big crossover event of the Marvel/Paramount Star Trek titles coming up. Using their original series to set that up was a good idea as well.

What they got wrong: Isn’t Spock supposed to be a bit grayer in the hair, like he was last issue? Yep, that’s all I’ve got.

What did I think overall: This was a darn good story on its own and a good set-up to the upcoming “Telepathy War”. This two-part story is one to look up.
