So tonight it’s going to snow, and I’m not sure what the roads are going to be like tomorrow. The rest of the weekend they’re talking very cold temperatures. So I went and got my comics today. One ended up getting left behind until next week, and another ended up on the list that I hadn’t planned. So which is which?

The Dreamland Chronicles #7 {IDW/Blue Dream}

This is the one I left until next week, since I’ve already read it online. Here we get a good look at Natajia’s home, and as I recall, discover why she was so cold to Alex last time. This is a great series with great visuals (if IDW puts the right pages together, unlike last month). The story moves forward at this point. I’m kind of sad there’s only one pull (mine, obviously) listed, but I’m hoping that means people are waiting for trades.

Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #47 {Marvel}

Granted, I wasn’t blown away with the last issue as I usually am the other Marvel Adventures I collect, but I decided to give it another chance. Mostly, it’s because I like the Prowler (or at least his outfit) and a story that (according to ComiXology, click the link) has Spidey giving Prowler the treatment Jolly Jonah gives him. Otherwise, it’s nice to see a word where Peter isn’t supposed to be married (yes, I’m still harping on that) because he’s still in high school. (I imagine Main Parker will end up regressed there somehow in a few years when the kids whose Spider-Man comes from here, Ultimate, or the Spectacular cartoon end up running Marvel and writing Spider-Man. Unless they don’t suck!)

Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes # 7 {Marvel}

The series seems to be leaving the “Movie 3” behind in favor of the rest of the Marvel Universe. Granted the preview puts this in a seperate universe from MA: Avengers (probably the first contradiction I’ve found, but I hear the MA: Hulk is also guilty of it), since according to the previews Donald/Thor is dating someone who isn’t Storm. This saddens me, but I want to see what Louise Simonson is going to do with Thor, and I’m not even a regular Thor reader. Actually, this will the closest thing to a Thor comic I own, except for a couple crossovers events, back when such things were rare rather the norm like today.

The Phantom Annual #2 {Moonstone}

What little I know of Mandrake the Magician comes from the oft-panned Defenders of the Earth cartoon, but I believe he was another creation of Phantom daddy (no, not Christopher Walker) Lee Falk. This annual has the two teaming up, which should be interesting. Of course, the main reason I bought it was because it’s the Phantom.

Star Trek: Countdown #1 {IDW}

I had planned to look it over, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to buy it. However, I forgot all about it. (I didn’t have time to print out my pull list today.) To be honest, I read one issue of IDW’s run and just didn’t have the urge to get any more. This story is supposed to be a prequel to the new movie coming out this year, which is what interested me. I’m not sure I’ll miss having this comic like I do The Greatest American Hero or I Hate Gallant Girl #’s 1.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Alliance #2 {IDW}

Speaking of prequels, this is the one for the next Transformers movie (another one, taking place prior to the war between Autobots and Decepticons in the Movieverse, is scheduled soon). We’re also going to see Starscream and Wreckage, which should be interesting.

DC Super Friends #11 {DC}

Ok, this comic is too “kiddie” even for me. However, it’s supposed to be, as the target audience are the same 5 year olds that get the action figures (created because DC was jealous of Marvel’s “Spider-Man and Friends”, another Rescue Heroes ripoff) and not a guy in his 30’s. However, it’s Bat-Mite versus Mr. Mxyzptlk. How can that go wrong? Well, easily for the Super Friends, but I was talking about the readers. 🙂

So that’s what I’m reading this week. Return on Sunday to see if it was $20 well spent.
