Toon Zone has the latest on the new Super Hero Squad, based on the figurines and comic strips. Just the fact that Stan Lee is playing the mayor is worth the price of admission, but they’re pulling together a good list of quality voice actors, and “regular” actors, some of whom have shown voice acting skill in the past. (Considering how often these projects slap a famous celebrity anywhere–I’m looking right at you, Dreamworks!–regardless of their VOCAL acting skill, which is not the same thing, just to have the big name…this is turning into a run-on sentence, sorry but can’t be helped…even if we can’t recognize their voice, it’s a nice change.)

I just hope it’s as fun as the comics, but with a bit more continuity, being a series instead of strips, perhaps even leading to a regular comic book. It could be Marvel’s answer to Johnny DC’s DC Super Friends series.

EDIT: Toon Zone just put up a link to a trailer for a new online series called “Marvel Super Heroes: What The?” which bears no resemblance to this. However, it looks fun…in it’s own way. Maybe Marvel isn’t without hope after all.

Maybe.
