He’s Marvel’s best character. Handsome, charming, and your girl wants to…hey, I don’t use that kind of language here, Wilson!
[Just write what I tell you!]
I hope that thing doesn’t leave a mark.
[It’ll leave a mark on the floor with your brains if you don’t shut up and do this!]
Fine. Tonight’s movie is a fanfilm, which is more less than such a wonderful character deserves. Created by Rob Liefeld (we won’t hold it against him, although that does explain all the pouches on his belt) and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool made his debut in New Mutants #98, according to his Marvel Database entry. This fanfilm was made around the time of Civil War (we won’t hold it against Dark Mullet Cinema, although the black Spidey costume was always the coolest, except for the brain-eating symbiote part) and features Wade Wilson being hired to track down Spider-Man, who was a fugitive from the law at the time.
Guest starring along with Misters Wilson and Parker are Domino and Weasel, two characters who share a history with the “Merc With A Mouth”. Also to be noted is that they got Reilly Brown and Jeremy Freeman, who were the art team of Cable/Deadpool (it really should have been Deadpool/Cable..couldn’t they have just been saving the best for last?)…
[I like you, pal. You know just what to say to keep me from killing you. Continue]
Actually, I think we’re ready to get to the movie, posted to Google Video.
[UPDATE July 7,2014: Google Video is dead but the video has a new home on YouTube so we can still watch it.]
[Oh, good. Where’s my popcorn?]
Odd. I couldn’t get the full screen to come up here on the page. You’ll have to go to the Google link above for that.
[You know, I would have done a far better job in the role. I mean, the dialog fits, considering the movies seldom get that right and the costume’s not bad considering his budget was pretty much whatever he found in a coin-return slot outside the 7-11. But the fight scenes, especially the one with Domino, needs some work. Hope she doesn’t find his home address. Now, ShadowDude, how about reviewing some of my comics sometime?]
Actually, I’m not much of a fan. I just like to use this section to promote the work of so-called non-professionals that interest me.
[You…don’t read my comic.]
I’ve caught some previews and stuff on scans_daily, and it’s a bit too bloody for my taste. Actually, I was looking for a certain Batman fan-film when I came upon this one.
[…]
What if I tell people to look for you in the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine?
[Yeah, sure, but I hate that guy. I should have been the title character.]
I’m no fan of his myself.
[Yeah?]
Just wait until you see what happens in tomorrow’s comic reviews.
[Ooooh, is that the Marvel Adventures: Avengers where he….]
Hey, save it for tomorrow’s review!
[Right, sorry. Good thing, though, or that Hube guy would have to stop calling you “SWT” and start calling you “RIP”.]
…
[It’s…been a long day, and I’m not wasting my “A” material on this hardly-read blog anyway. Just hit “post” already.]
