It’s also the last weekly edition of the Pull List (which means less having to go back and fix the “u” that keeps getting capitalised because I don’t let go of the Shift key fast enough). After only two votes I guess nobody cares if I go monthly (if anyone cares at all, new blog or not). So next week starts the monthly listing of all the comics I hope to get that month. Whether or not they actually show up, who’s to say.

As it is, this week’s edition is pretty long. ComiXology is giving me 11 comics! Double checking with Preview’s weekly listing (permalink, updates every week) reduces that number to six, and I think I may not bother with War of Kings: Darkhawk. I just didn’t enjoy it and I don’t need another origin for his powers. I really AM done with 616, until they bring the fun back. So, now with five comics confirmed, I plot to obtain…

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #3 [DC]

Writer:Matt Wayne;  Artists: Andy Suriano & Dan Davis; Cover Artist: Scott Jeralds
When the Ultra-Humanite wants to score big, he goes straight to the top – he’s after the President! But Batman and Green Arrow have a rescue plan so daring that we could only call this story ‘President Batman’!
Format: FC, 32pg., COMIC Price: $2.50

Yeah, I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It sounds like a major Finkleberg (“given the chance I can sell any story”), a term I’ll explain in detail at some point. I’m still writing it in my head. However, B:TBATB has not let me down yet, outside of Power Girl’s character model, so there’s still hope.

The Incredibles: Family Matters #1 [Boom Studios]

Writer: Mark Waid;  Artist: Marcio Takara; Cover: TBD
America’s favorite family of superheroes finally returns, courtesy of legendary scribe Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, The Flash)! The Incredibles face terrifying new villains…and friendly new neighbors, all while Mr. Incredible hides a troubling secret from his costumed clan.
Format: FC, LIMITED SERIES Price: 2.99

Please, please let this be a better translation than IDW’s Ghostbusters series. I hope Waid went back, watched the incredibly (no pun intended) super happy fun time movie and keeps the spirit in his story. The phrase “troubling secret”, however, has me worried, based on those two titles in the blurb and current comic story stylings. (I refer you again to Ghostbusters: The Other Side.)

by Mike Bullock, David Micheline & Silvestre Szilagyi; Cover by Sy Barry
It’s time for a new beginning a new focus, a new direction, and new issues more often! Welcome aboard story consultant (Iron Man writer) David Michelinie! Join us for stories torn from today’s headlines of modern day Africa-told in a fashion true to the earlier/darker days of The Phantom strip! In this issue: When a UN peace-keeping mission in Northern Africa takes an explosive turn for the worse, The Phantom soon discovers that this is but the opening shot in a war to end all wars, waged by an army who lusts for their own martyrdom! And for the first time ever, the legendary Phantom artist, Sy Barry, provides a new cover for an American Phantom comic – which is also offered in a ‘Virgin’ cover edition, limited to 200 copies worldwide!
Format: COMIC Price: $3.99

Finally confirmed! So this time the comic’s actually coming! Still, of all the comics out there, one would think the Phantom would least need to be trapped in the sliding timeline. At this point, the 1st Phantom’s debut will be moved to where the 13th Phantom’s currently is. Still I do enjoy the stories, and I’m wondering what Iron Man legend David Micheline will add to Bullock’s already amazing run in the Phantom’s world in the previous Moonstone series. Not confirmed: Phantom Generations #1, which is a shame.

Sonic Universe #2 [Archie]

Writer: Ian Flynn; Artist: Tracy Yardley
The second issue of the new, ever-expanding, all-encompassing series revolving around Sonic’s many friends and foes, with continuity aligning with the regular monthly Sonic comic. It is the eve of Sonic’s big confrontation with Dr. Robotnik, but Shadow and Rouge have other plans. As the three of them embark on a crucial midnight raid, readers will have the opportunity to simultaneously look back on a time when Sonic and Shadow weren’t so friendly as they witness the lost tale of their battle for the Ark! It’s déjà vu all over again as the present and past run parallel in this high-action tale!
Format: FC, COMIC Price: $2.50

Seeing as I want to get back into the Sonic Universe (if indeed they’ve dropped the compressing of three stories into one normal-sized comic), why not continue with…Sonic Universe until the next jump-on point?

Transformers: All Hail Megatron #9 [IDW]

By Shane McCarthy
It’s the last, desperate stand of the AUTOBOTS on CYBERTRON as they attempt to survive an onslaught of nightmarish proportions. Meanwhile, on Earth, the uprising begins as a Witwicky leads the charge. Also available with a special Don Perlin incentive cover!
Format: FC, COMIC Price: $3.99

Nice to see they’re getting back to Earth and the humans now that we’re all caught up.

——————————

I just felt like doing something different with the listings this week. Next week starts the new monthly listings, and we can all see together what actually comes up during the week. Now I’ll have an extra day to have an article sitting waiting (hopefully this doesn’t lead to more filler videos 🙂 ) and not have to rush something through by deadline. And just our luck, the first of April (I don’t do “April Fools Day”, so worry not) is on a Wednesday! So the first monthly listing is the same day as the weeklies have been. Neat.

I should also note that due to finances, and being unable to get my comics last week due to back problems, it’s a crap shoot as to what comics I’ll be reviewing this weekend. Lucky for me, next week only has one comic listed. Still, it means the review list may not match the release list, but we’ll straighten all that out in way less time than the government will “fix” the economy, so there’s some good news.

And now…supper!
