Robot 6 is reporting that USA Today will be printing the Superman strips featuring in DC’s Wednesday Comics books, both starting July 8th. The 12 part comic book series features comic strips by various writers and artists and feature numerous DC Universe characters, done in a Sunday Comics section format. However, only Superman will appear in USA Today and on their website. This will be the first time there has been a Superman comic strip in a newspaper (to my knowledge, anyway) since the original comic strip was canceled (in 1966, according to Wikipedia, but I recall comics a friend of mine showed me from much later than that, unless they were reprints).

In other DC content news, check out the solicitations for September and look at how many comics feature dark secrets or secret origin stories finally being revealed. (I counted about 7 or 8.) Even Superman is getting a “Secret Origin”, which I believe will be part of John’s (and Didio’s) attempt to bring Superman’s “Superboy” years back into continuity, whether it fits post-Crisis or not. Do we have to keep making up “skeletons in the closet” for everyone? This is why I think folks looking to get Sugar and Spike comics back may want to think twice. Just from that Wikipedia entry I can guess what “Uncle Charlie” will turn out to be in today’s DC.
