The month of July, when we of the United States celebrate our decision to break free of a tyrant king in order to establish a nation run by the citizenry via representatives who have our best interests at heart. I miss that country.

July is also the month of my birth. Don’t judge it too harshly.

Finally, July is the month of this edition of the ComiXology Pull List. What are the odds?

Disclaimer: All comics listed will be reviewed subject to publisher’s final release, whether or not my comic store ordered enough, if I decided to actually pick it up based on my budget and in-store browse, and if Diamond didn’t flub things up. Again.

The Incredibles: Family Matters #4: Boom Studios

The final chapter of the series. Now we know what’s going on, it’s time to save the day and prepare for their new ongoing series. Now all they need is the kick-butt animated series. Buzz Lightyear got one.

Land of the Lost #1: Arcana

Wait, wasn’t this supposed to release last month? Yep, should have had it last week. Now we get unknown July date. Hope it’s worth it.

Muppet Robin Hood #3: Boom! Kids

#2 is supposed to be out this week, so I’m betting this doesn’t make it in July.

Shipping July 1: That’s means it should have come out by the time you read this, but I won’t get it until tomorrow.

Doctor Who Classics: Series 2 #8: IDW Publishing

I wonder if Steve Parkhouse still does Doctor Who stories? He should, but the old ones are a good read.

Muppet Robin Hood #2: Boom! Kids

See, told you. This issue has Robin meeting Maid Marian. Robin being Kermit and Marian being Ms. Piggy. Oddly, still no sign of Prince John, according to the previews, but considering his taste in tourist traps, I’m not sure I want to.

The Muppet Show #4: Boom Kids!

It’s going to be a Muppetational day Thursday. What deep, dark secret will we learn about Ms. Piggy? If it were a DC Comic, I’d shudder to imagine.

Simpsons Super Spectacular # 9: Bongo Comics

The new Radioactive Man is revealed. Will it be any good? Will it be better than the one I came up with in my head last year? You’ll never know the last one.

Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan #3: IDW Publishing

I didn’t pick up the first two yet (money being tight), but I’m having trouble believing this isn’t going to be overcompressed at three issues. The battle with Khan alone and the aftermath should take up two comics.

Transformers Spotlight: Metroplex: IDW Publishing

Metroplex finally gets a comic! Just in time for the final Spotlight. Too bad, as the Spotlights have been a good way to give the lesser-used characters some overdue focus without messing with the main story. If Marvel had done that years ago, maybe Budiansky would have stayed on and we wouldn’t have the Furman years. At least, that’s what did happen in my happy place.

Shipping July 8th

Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes #13: Marvel Comics

I’m a little worried here. Paul Tobin is taking on Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man and is still working on MA: Avengers. I should be ecstatic, but after last month’s MA:Avengers, I’m hoping he’s not over extending himself. He does plenty of non-MA titles as well.

Sonic the Hedgehog #202: Archie Comics

So far I’m glad I came back to the Sonic series. I jumped on at a good point, I think, and it’s nice to see they stopped stuffing too much into one book.

Wednesday Comics #1: DC Comics

A series of Sunday-style comics based on DC properties. USA Today will be carrying the Superman strip on their website, with the first one also carried in their newspaper. I hope it’s better than DC’s current comic BOOK crop (outside of Johnny DC).

Shipping July 15th

The Brave and the Bold #25: DC Comics

I’m a sucker for armored heroes. I’m curious how the DC version of Hardware compares to the too-violent-for-me Milestone version as he teams up with the current Blue Beetle. I hope it’s more interesting than last month’s issue with Static and Black Lightning.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures: Marvel Comics

Until they wise up and bring back Marvel Adventures: Iron Man (the only thing smarter would be for DC to bring back Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures, which is the likelier event), I’ll consider this the consolation prize. While I can understand folks being put off by the teenaged versions of the “Iron Circle”, I’ve been enjoying the series. But this is only a one-shot comic. I’m hoping for more, like Super Hero Squad is getting.

Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers #3: Marvel Comics

Yes, you will hear me complain more about what they’ve done to Ms. Lion, but otherwise this is a fun title. Although I still don’t think we need Bo the White House Dog’s cameo next month.

Marvel Adventures: The Avengers #38: Marvel

I’m really hoping Paul Tobin recaptures the magic of the previous issues. (And who ever drew last week’s issue isn’t back–ye gods, that was horrible!) A bunch of school kids get to hang out with the Avengers, just as Paul’s “hippie” Mandarin comes calling. Please don’t mess that up.

DC Super Friends #17: DC Comics

Why do people forget the DC in DC Super Friends (not to be confused with the cartoon, also spelled Superfriends, I’m not sure which is official)? Anyway, although it’s coming out a bit late for Independence Day, The DC Super Friends go back in time to meet the Founding Fathers. I’ll be keeping a very close eye on this one, for the obvious reasons.

Superman/Batman #62: DC Comics

I’m not sure if I’ll get this one or not, but a team-up story with Robin and Supergirl intrigues me.

Shipping July 22nd

Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #53: Marvel Comics

It’s Paul Tobin (there’s that name again) debut on MA: Spidey. I’ve loved his take on MA: Spidey in MA: Avengers and Super Heroes, and I’m hoping he brings that to this series, as well as potentially setting up some long overdue continuity in the Adventureverse between the three titles. Don’t let me down, Paul. Unlike our next entry:

Power Girl #3: DC Comics

I’m still trying to get the taste of the last issue out of my metaphorical mouth. It was just dreadful. Bad enough to stop the action to tell a story none of us cared to know, but…just read that week’s review and realize why I may not even pick this issue up, just browse it on the stand before putting it back. It was that disgusting.

Sonic Universe #6: Archie Comics

Issue 5 came out last week, but I didn’t get it. However, it’s in my folder waiting to be snagged Thursday, so I can’t comment beyond that about this arc. I have high hopes, though.

Shipping July 29th

Astro Boy #3: IDW Publishing

Wait, did #2 come out and I missed it?

Batman: The Brave and the Bold #7: DC Comics

Teen Titans model Beast Boy looks terrible in Brave and the Bold character model style, at least on that cover. The Doom Patrol teams with Batman against General Immortus, which makes him unique as the first villain to make a second appearance in the comic version of this series.

Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam! #6: DC Comics

I wish I knew what this issue is about, but ComiXology has the solicit for an “After Watchman” promo reprint. (Is Watchmen even on anyone’s radar right now?)

Buck Rogers #2: Dynamite Entertainment

When we last left Buck Rogers, he and Wilma Derring was blasted by a cyborg bear with a giant gun. Now that’s how you kick-start a new series!

Doctor Who #1: IDW Publishing

Ongoing Doctor Who comic for the win! For the bonus points: Tony Lee is writing and the Doctor teams with Charlie Chaplain. This will be a nice way to end a month.

Doctor Who: Room With a Deja View: IDW Publishing

Do we really need a Doctor Who special with the new Tony Lee-written new series starting the same month. Yes, it’s the Doctor. Written by Rich “Lying in the Gutters”/”Bleeding Cool” Johnston, who also wrote a Watchmen parody recently, it’s a murder mystery in spaaaaace. Should be good.

Don Bluth: Space Ace #1: Arcana

I’m concerned that my local comic store will not have ordered this comic. The last time someone tried a Space Ace comic, it ended after two or three issues. My favorite part of the old Saturday Supercade series, I’m hoping to get a full run this time.

The Incredibles #0: Boom! Kids

Another ongoing of a comic I enjoy. Yet I’m hoping that, as this story is about the birth of Jack-Jack, that Mark remembers everyone was out of the super hero business when the kid was born, and the kids weren’t super heroes at all, just kids hiding their super powers.

The Middleman: Doomsday Armageddon Apocalypse: Viper Comics

Ever since the USA Network series, I’ve been wanting to read the comic it’s based on. I missed the compilation, and I’m hoping this new story comes in. (Probably won’t as I didn’t order it, because I didn’t know about it.)

The Muppet Show: The Treasure of Peg Leg Wilson: Boom! Kids

Good to know that Roger Langridge is still going to be writing Muppet Show comics. Instead of character focus stories, the gang’s searching for hidden treasure in the theater. Hilarity should ensue.

The Phantom: Generations #5: Moonstone

Right. I’m still waiting for issues 3 and 4.

The Phantom: Ghost Who Walks #4: Moonstone

A new story arc involving the Phantom hunting a thief. How will Mike Bullock make a multiple-part story out of that, and how will he make it awesome?

Transformers: All Hail Megatron #13 (Coda 1): IDW Publishing

The story arc so good, that it took over the IDW G1verse and pushed Simon Furman’s take out of the way. So why is Furman writing one of the stories? Way to ruin a good thing.

William Shatner’s Tek War #2: Bluewater Comics

It’s not too often I can recommend a “Mature Readers” title (especially since “Mature” seems to be not-so mature, unless you just jumped puberty), but the first issue was pretty good.

So once again, a whole ton of comics coming at the end of the month. So what will I actually pick up with my limited budget, what will actually show up at the scheduled time, and what will be lost in the Diamond dimension of lost comics? Stay tuned the next few Sundays and find out.
