Marvel Super Hero Squad #1

Marvel Comics (March 2010)

I’m just go to “speed mode” through this one. Three separate stories, more closely related to the TV show. The first one has Dr. Doom’s time machine being damaged, turning the Squadies and Doom’s gang into babies. (Except for Reptil, who is immune to the fractal that powers the machine.) The second story has Grey Gargoyle and the Wrecking Crew being sent out to capture the Squad. The last one has Iron Man inventing a machine that fixes everything the Hulk damages, and the Hulk isn’t happy about it.

These are great comics for kids (although why they couldn’t do a full-length comic is beyond me), but I personally wasn’t drawn to it. (In fact it took me a few weeks just to convince myself to pick it up.) I think I just enjoy the show better. I ordered a few more through Previews (you have to order a couple months in advance) so I’ll probably get those as well, but I’m just not into this series enough with my tight budget. (Granted, most of the issues I ordered before they cut my hours at work.)

If you have little kids, however, it’s a great comic for them, and I recommend it on those grounds.
