Yes, late again. It’s been that kind of week. At least I have an article coming at the usual time.
Sonic Universe #13
Archie Comics (April 2010)
WRITER: Ian Flynn
PENCILER: Tracy Yardley
INKER: Jim Amash
COLORIST: Jason Jensen
LETTERER: Teresa Davidson
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Paul Kaminski
EDITOR: Mike Pellerito
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF: Victor Gorelick
Hoping to take down the Iron Kingdom from the “back end”, Sonic, Tails, Sally, and Ken travel to the Dragon Kingdom to make contact with the Gossamer Clan (the spider ninjas). After much discussion and catching up. the Bride of the Clan decides to side with the Freedom Fighters. However, a message from the Yagyu Clan arrives rather abruptly, as they want a meeting of their own.
What they got right: While I continue to praise the way writer Ian Flynn weaves the romantic sub-plot seamlessly into the story without hurting the main plot, I have to give him and/or artist Tracy Yardley some extra credit. The emotions on their faces, the stuff happening in the background (like Tails using his tails to dry off Li Moon–and her apparent interest in Tails if I’m reading her expression right) all helps to really draw you into the story, as the gang tries to find a way around the Iron Queen’s influence. It’s a good plan, and the character work great.
What they got wrong: Sonic Universe is supposed to be about the expanded universe, while Sonic The Hedgehog is obviously about Sonic himself. So wouldn’t this story be better suited for STH while what’s happening with the rest of the Freedom Fighters back at New Mobotropolis should be in this title?
Recommendation: Regardless of which comic this story should be in, it is one you should be reading.
Up Next: The Muppet Show #2 (ongoing)

Just a quick correction.
