While I was looking for a pic of Furball for last night’s “Pet Avengers” post, I came across this comic at the Marvel Database (aka Marvel Wiki–I tend to refer to it with both names).
Here’s what the Wiki said about this scene.
After the events at Stamford, CT, Robbie Baldwin transformed from the happy-go-lucky Speedball to the regretful Penance. In Deadpool/GLI Summer Fun Spectacular, Penance explains to Squirrel Girl that Niels is now P-Cat. The penitent puss can be seen wearing a costume similar to the torturing one that Penance wears. It has yet to be seen how the cat’s powers have changed (if at all).
Seeing as it’s a Deadpool comic, I’m hoping this was some kind of parody and not canon. Then again, the Marvel Database Wiki claims that the Pet Avengers story takes place in 616 (the main Marvel Universe), which I find difficulty believing. (And not just because 616 is dead to me, pending the outcome of the “Heroic Age”.) Still, somebody please tell me this isn’t canon. As a parody I will be amused. On the other hand, if this is actually what happened, it will be officially the dumbest idea since Civil War damaged the character of Speedball.
