The gang pick up comedian Clint Wacky to stand in for Fozzie when they go to Little Statwald, a town where everyone is related to either Statler and Waldorf. (Lucky that Fozzie is sitting this one out, except in the back-up he and the aforementioned hecklers end up being chased by cops.) Wacky turns out to be an insult comic, which doesn’t sit well with Scooter as he attempts to convince Wacky and his writers to leave.
Skits include variations on the talking houses (using the caravans) and “Pigs in Space”, plus Robin and some other kids as scouts.
What they got right: Roger’s playing with classic Muppet Show skits continues to get better. Using the caravans in place of the talking houses is rather brilliant. It was also nice to see Fozzie get some laughs. But it’s the backstage stuff where Langridge continues to shine.
What they got wrong: Everyone related to either Statler or Waldorf or both. That just brings up too many questions I’d rather avoid.
Recommendation: Still a great comic for any Muppet fan.
Up Next: The Phantom: KGB Noir #2, guest-starring Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
