Ultra Magnus finds the rouge band of Autobots, and is less than pleased to see Hot Rod, now talked by Swindle into going by “Rodimus” (or “Rodimus Prime”), is working with Decepticons, especially the aforementioned Swindle. Meanwhile, Spike is questioning his decisions up to this point (not including capturing Autobots, sadly). The focus, however, is on Thundercracker, who has developed some kind of respect for the Earth.
What they got right: I’ve been rather disappointed by Costa’s story thus far, but I kind of liked this issue. While I’m still less than pleased with the Autobots current situation, or RATT Sector Seven Skywatch, I really liked Thundercracker here, from watching sitcoms to his rather unique observations (especially for a Decepticon) about Earth, it was fascinating to see.
What they got wrong: I think I finally figured out what bugs me about the “movie-style” additions to the character models…they come off too bulky. This is surprising to me coming from Figueroa, if you’ve ever seen his other designs back in the Dreamwave comics or his own Macromasters fancomic.
Recommendation: I’m hoping this means that Costa is finally getting his act together, but before I can recommend this series, I want to see how well he builds on this one. At least, it’s the best issue thus far of the ongoing.

I don't care if Figueroa drew this himself, or used actual photos, this is a beautiful scene. {click for full size}
