The decree has come down from Spacebooger. In order for a winning entry in the “Bad Boys” tournament to make it to the grand championship, the winners must make a bonus post. That’s one way to promote the tourney, which has had way too low voting numbers since the days of Bahalctus, a mistake I would like to see corrected in the future. And there are a number of good nominees this round (like this one, hint hint), despite my personal preferences against giving the villains victories.
So that will be next week, but this week it’s time to set the Wayback Machine (sad to think there will someday be a world where nobody will understand the reference) to the days of black-and-white entries. Because this week’s classic fight is just that–Classic Fights.
The Best of
Classics Edition part 1
Something I’ve been remiss about gets corrected this edition. While I usually post what I consider the best of the fights that are still linkable (websites come and websites go), I will also link to the original round page, so you can find your own favorites. In this tournament, the rules that every fight had to be in black and white. Some used originally black and white comics, some used the black and white big collections that Marvel (Essentials) and DC (Showcases) had just started coming out with, and some used their picture editors to cheat. 🙂 So who stood out in the BW judgment system (pat. pend.)?
- I haven’t even read this one yet. However, Chun-Li = instant win. (Also works for Godzilla, The Doctor, and Transformers.)
- Since I have yet to update my RSS feed (as of this post) to include him (thus returning the favor) here’s a bonus. Gary’s first FNF, and Batman beating the crud out of some punk. (Either one would do, really.)
- So it turns out Popeye wasn’t saving Olive from Bluto/Brutis. He was saving them from her! (She’s still a tramp, though.)
- John Wayne would approve. I think.
- I thought the Revolutionary War was over?
- Two fists are cuter than one.
- Well, her name IS “Modesty”.
- Wrong, but nicely done wrong.
- Hawk versus hippies. Why did DC turn him evil again? Oh, right, to hide spoilers.
- Like, BOOM!
- I guess the “force” just wasn’t with him. (Yes, I feel bad for doing that.)
- Never question Hawkeye’s favorite elevator music.
- Forget Daredevil! Go Helen Keller!
- Batman practices equal rights. And lefts.
- I think they’re fighting over which movie was better. (Spoiler: Iron Man.)
- Do we learn nothing from Monty Python and Bugs Bunny? Never piss off a rabbit!
- Aqualad kicks butt. That is all.
- The day Oberon was Big Man On Campus.
- I’m more into the dialog than the fight itself. Including Maxo’s.
- It’s Jimmy Olsen in a dress. Anything else defies explanation.
- Hey, a clown that ISN’T evil! In a comic!
- When Mary Marvel was awesome.
- I think I like manga Major.
- I’m not sure I WANT to know what happens next.
- This one’s for the birds. (Yes, this one too.)
And that’s the first six round. But decide for yourselves what fights you enjoyed. Next week is the Bad Boys Bonus, then it’s back to classic face-punching.

Wrong?! Wrong?!!!?!?

Not you, the bad guys. The scene itself was epic…or would have been if not for all the hero killing recently.
