Normally, I’d reserve this for a link in the Weekly Wrap-Up, but although I haven’t been able to play it as much as I’d like, not having a current console in console generations (last consoles I bought were the NES and CD-I), I’ve missed out. I have, however, played Marvel Vs. Capcom in the arcades (before they disappeared completely around here outside of one amusement park) and have seen the sequel played at various get-togethers in the state (conventions and a short lived anime cafe) so I join those excited about a third installment.
There’s even a new trailer.
Fans have been waiting longer for this sequel than Kingdom Hearts fans have for their sequel. Don’t expect the game to look that good, however. It will probably be more like this:
Just with better graphics. And still not on the PC. 😦 The Weekly Crisis (who thankfully found a better quality trailer) reports that it will be done in the style of the recent Street Fighter 4 game, which is a rather nice-looking game but still plays like a 2-D fighter. TWC also has a list of announced characters, and they note a lack of Spider-Man and Venom, who have been part of the first two games. I would also note on the game side the lack of Mega Man, who has also been in the previous games and other “Capcom vs.” games such as the recent crossover with anime studio Tatsunuko’s characters for the Wii. Hopefully these two will be added in a future full listing.
