I was supposed to put an actual title there. Oops.
Yes, a reference to last week’s comic, plus it’s based on a real event. Click the comic for the story, or just check out this week’s interesting reports (well, to me) .
comics
- Possible disharmony between Disney and Marvel? Or just one bad egg?
- Neil Adams making “motion comics” about the Holocaust! Sounds good to me.
- Another opinion piece about how poorly death is used in comics.
- DC Comics to have it’s own Comic-Con? Good idea or ego trip? You make the call.
- Picture of Amy Mebberson, Muppet artist extraordinaire, in an article about Boom’s news at C2E2.
- Want to be an Avenger? No, they’re not going to put you in a comic. It’s one of those “upload your picture” kind of sites.
- Best Comic Critics strip ever! Stan Lee appears.
- Attention Linkara. One of your early cannon fodder is making a comeback. All-Star Batman & Robin will be completed under the rebranded name Dark Knight: Boy Wonder, in order to, in Comic Shop News’ words, “(establish) its link to Miller’s Dark Knight Returns and Dark Night Strikes Again. Um, Jim? We knew that ASB&R wasn’t in the regular DC Universe. Go read or watch Linkara’s reviews over at Atop The Fourth Wall (they were written reviews before some were turned into video reviews). The complaint is that it was a poor representation of Batman as a character as a whole, not one particular version.
- Reports of a scam involving local comic store. PBS isn’t looking to promote you. Sorry. It’s just some jerk trying to steal your money.
- Newsarama talks to the artist for Boom’s best idea since the Roger/Amy team-up: Darkwing Duck’s return.
- Fred Van Lente discusses his new Iron Man comic. Note that the video autoplays when you go to the page. I’ll have a review for the comic itself on Tuesday.
- The DC Kids panel at C2E2 brings good news for Billy Batson and Tiny Titans fans, but sadly not what Cosmic Supergirl fans want to hear.
- Speaking of kids comics, Diamond has a new website for parents to find good comics for kids. (Only the ones they distribute, I bet. The indies will probably be left hanging.) h/t: Good Comics For Kids.
television/movies
- Marvel may be planning to work on some smaller budget movies to promote the less dynamic characters in their library. (h/t: Coming Soon.net)
- The Green Hornet and Avatar: The Last Airbender are getting a 3D makeover. For Green Hornet fans, this means the movie is getting pushed back to January 14, 2011. OK, so the other Avatar is responsible in part for this big 3D craze and all, and I can see Airbender done in 3D, but Green Hornet? Why?
- Speaking of the movie that cut half of Ang’s name out, here’s James Cameron on the nightmare he’s started, and plans for a sequel. Sequel? Really? Why?
- Toon Zone has the trailer for the upcoming DC Animation film Batman: Under the Red Hood. Looks cool, until you realize that it’s probably based on the stupid idea to bring Jason Todd back, because nobody wanted him so badly.
- Mad TV returning as a cartoon? Not quite, but just as lame.
- If there’s an award for best Alternate Reality Game promotion of a movie, Tron: Legacy must be trying to win it. Although Iron Man isn’t slouching with their “Stark Expo site, and you may have seen the interactive trailer on other blogs and news sites.
- The voice of Batman in most fans’ heads (no, I can’t back that up), Kevin Conroy, on Christian Bale’s performance as the Dark Knight.
video games
- Marvel promotion for the upcoming Marvel Vs. Capcom 3.
No other news this week, just This Week’s Cracked: 6 Life Saving Techniques From the Movies (That Can Kill You). Ah, those magical life-saving devices CPR, the defibrillator, and tourniquets. You have a better chance finding a floating life pack spinning in mid-air (video game reference) than getting these to actually work.
Best Scene of the Week!
I missed you, heading1.
Marvel Adventures: Super Heroes #1

Just make sure you save the glazed for me, Thor, or that hammer ain’t gonna save you!
