As Martha, Matthew, and UNIT forces engage the Enochian-possessed trees, we learn that the Doctor didn’t fall for Gelth-style trick again. He simply adjusted the size of the containment field to get the clockwork angel to reveal her true intentions. Escaping from Craney, the Doctor and Emily discover the Enochian ship and a video message left behind by John Dee, revealing the aliens true plans (and referring to the head “angel” by a male pronoun…this may be important later since it is stressed by the Doctor himself later). The Doctor gives Emily the Sonic Screwdriver to get to the surface and allows himself to be taken prisoner. The Advocate uses this opportunity to release all the “sleeping” Enochians on the ship.
What they got right: The Enochians are something out of one of Steven Moffat‘s stories (with a bit of the Gelth thrown in), which is just fine with me, seeing as he’s written some of my favorite new series episodes. The art is often quite good. And only one cover this issue (not counting the retail incentive which is only missing the trade dress). May this become a trend through all the IDW titles. (Not holding my breath.)
What they got wrong: Just how did Matthew get a motorcycle to crash into that one tree-Enochian and get into a UNIT hummer that fast?
Recommendation: If you already miss David Tennant as the Doctor, here’s your chance to get a fix.

"...except for our toys, wait until you Americans see the import fee on THOSE!"
Tomorrow’s Comic: The Incredibles #8

Hi – I don’t usually respond to reviews, good or bad, but I did think a point of clarification was in order, just because I wondered if some people would find that scene confusing.
The motorcycle thing: The hand behind the bike is a monster tree throwing the motorcycle at the helicopter, blowing it up to stop the humans from boarding and escaping. All Matthew did was grab the Rover and drive it up.
The top bit was written as one panel, and that’s how I saw to fit everything in, but turing the act of throwing the bike into three mini panels and the explosion payoff (instead of one big longshot of the action, where everyone and the explosion would end up tiny).
I can’t explain where the bike came from, save for it could’ve been left at one of the park’s many parking lots.
Thanks for reading!

That could just be me, actually. For some reason I remembered it as the bike hitting the tree, and not the tree throwing it at the chopper. I tend to read my daily comic at breakfast time, so blame me being tired. 🙂
