Batman: The Brave & The Bold #17
DC Comics/Johnny DC (July 2010)
WRITER: Sholly Fisch PENCILER: Robert W. Pope INKER: Scott McRae COLORS: Heroic Age LETTERER: Travis Lnham ASSISTANT EDITOR: Harvey Richards EDITOR: Michael Siglain
7 short adventures features Batman working with Metamorpho against Mister Element, the Green Lanterns against Mongul, Merry: Girl of a 1000 gimmicks (looking much younger than she is here) against an Asian Toyman, Jonah Hex and Bat Lash against…some cowboys, Hawkman against the Gentleman Ghost, the Inferior Five against a purse snatcher, the Creeper against Scarecrow, and Chief O’Hara against Doomsday. I’ll let that last one sink in. Wait, is that Superman flying off in that panel?
What they got right: I do love these kind of issues where we just get some quick fights. (One of my favorite Superman comics was that issue of Superman Adventures where each of the 22 pages was one complete story.) And most of the team-ups are pretty neat in that B:TBATB style. Also, Chief O’Hara cameo. You have to love that.
What they got wrong: Are they really going to arrest Doomsday? That just feels wrong. Also, the solicits I’ve read for this issue was for an Aquaman/Ocean Master story. Somebody messed that one up.
Recommendation: If you like the cartoon or your a DC Universe history buff, you should really pick up this comic.

Batman...shouldn't watch so much C-Span.
