Doctor Who #11
IDW Publishing (May 2010)
WRITER: Tony Lee ARTIST: Blair Shedd COLORIST: Charlie Kirchoff LETTERER: Neil Uyetake EDITOR: Denton J. Tipton COVER ART: Paul Grist COVER COLORS: Phil Elliot
The Enochians cut London off from the world and continue destroying and killing. The Doctor recognizes the lead “angel” as the shapeshifter in the Advocate’s employ, and Crane overhears their conversation. He helps the Doctor reach the surface just as the Knight’s Arboretum arrive on the scene. So has the Advocate, who succeeds in turning Matthew and even UNIT against the Doctor, while she prepare a plan to stop the Enochians that may lead to the destruction of London!
What they got right: Lee is creating quite the situation for the Doctor, and wondering how the Doctor will get out of it holds my attention. References are made to Adric (again) and the fact that Martha married Mickey (I’m still not sure how that happened, as Martha was engaged to someone else when she MET Micky, but that’s Russel T.’s screw-up). And the art continues to be good.
What they got wrong: While the way it was written makes sense, I still shouldn’t want to slap Matthew upside the head, should I? Or am I just reaching to put something here?
Recommendation: Have I ever not recommended this series?

The Doctor and Crane discuss their new cooking show.

You should totally want to slap Matthew upside the head. I want to. I wanted to smack Adric around a few times as well.

I’m one of the few who liked Adric. Adric never betrayed the Doctor.

He seemed tempted a few times (and even if they were tricks, he still was very non-apologetic about it), but nevertheless was petulant too many time for me to find enjoyable. For me his best episode was Earthshock (and not because he died).
