Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man #2 (volume 2)
Marvel Comics (July 2010)
WRITER: Paul Tobin PENCILER: Matteo Lolli INKERS: Vecchia, Pallot, and Koblish COLORS: Sotocolor LETTERER: Dave Sharpe COVER: Kerchl, LaPointe, & Thomas PRODUCTION: Randall Miller ASSISTANT EDITOR: Michael Horwitz EDITOR: Nathan Cosby
When Spidey rescues a dog from dognappers on scooters, a cop thinks Spidey was the dognapper, so he’s forced to run, still carrying the dog. Peter tries in vain to find both the dog’s owner, and the only Torino who seems to be on Spider-Man’s side, Carter (who has a run-in with Bullseye). He finds Carter…transferring to Peter’s high school! Also there is the master of Kung-Fu, Shang-Chi. (Attention, Brian Snell of Slay, Monstrobot!) Carter seems to hit it off with Gwen, who still has issues with Chat, as the quartet attends Shang-Chi’s demonstration, which is invaded by the martial artist’s nemesis, Midnight. Not only do the heroes take out Midnight and his minions, but it turns out Shang-Chi knows the dog’s owner.
What they got right: I’m hoping Carter’s addition will smooth things over with Gwen, and we get to keep Peter/Chat without a love triangle. It’s also nice to have another male (besides Peter) in the cast, since it has been Peter and the girls (Chat, Gwen, and Emma Frost) thus far. The end fight was just fantastic from beginning to end. I love Tobin’s Spidey.
What they got wrong: WILL YOU STOP TEASING US AND GET TO THE BULLSEYE FIGHT ALREADY?
Recommendation: Support this comic now! It’s the best Spider-Man comic on the shelves, I don’t care what you think about “kids comics”. If that’s why you’re not picking it up, your wrong! I will accept other reasons, but not that one. This is also my favorite issue yet.

The tough part was choosing ONE moment from this fight. See also the part where Spidey is counting the ninjas he hasn't punched out yet.
