The Muppet Show #7
BOOM Kids! (June 2010)
WRITER/COVER ART: Roger Langridge ARTIST: Amy Mebberson COLORIST: Eric Cobain COVER COLOR: Digikore Studios LETTERER: Deron Bennett ASSISTANT EDITOR: Jason Long EDITOR: Aaron Sparrow DESIGNER: Erikia Terriquez
Fozzie’s mother is coming for a visit to the theater, but she thinks it’s Fozzie’s cover as the assistant to legendary investigator Woodworm Solmes. Also coming is a girl Fozzie knew in school and had a secret crush on. (I can relate.) Skeeter agrees to play his girlfriend, until they learn that Dora Bruin shares Fozzie’s interest and is darn cute (by bear/furry standards). Fozzie tells both the truth about both his romantic and business lives, and is forgiven by both. Meanwhile, Skeeter decides that it’s time to return to college and secretly continue HER work for Woodworm Solmes, but plans to visit again. (Please do, preferably after everyone is allowed to refer to you by name!)
What they got right: Since this will be the last time I get to praise her for awhile, Amy Mebberson’s art is still fantastic. As I’ve said more than once, Roger has them down pat verbally but Amy get them perfect visually, right down to the facial expressions (which for Muppets are more versatile than you think with the right Muppetter behind the character). I will miss her work. The entire arc has been interesting (except for Piggy’s nephews) and at the series will go on with Roger resuming art duties next issue.
What they got wrong: Roger uses the old “lying through the letters..oh, they’re coming to visit?” cliche well, but it’s still a cliche. In fact, I vaguely recall Fozzie already doing this with his mom in the old series, only this time as head of the theater. I could be wrong, but if someone hasn’t seen that episode (or it only exists in my head) then it’s a good use.
Recommendation: I recommend Boom makes these two a permanent team. Otherwise, you should still get this series.

Tomorrow’s Comic> The Smurf $1.00 preview comic. No, seriously.
