Launchpad rescues Darkwing, and they flash back to the incident that broke our heroes up. Negaduck finds Drake Mallard’s home after following Launchpad, but it’s the Crimebots that save him. That leads to Drake leaving the hero game to protect Gosalyn. She is able to convince her dad to reclaim the night just as Negaduck’s old teammates attack them. (We also learn why Quackerjack despises Negaduck.) However both parties are captured by the man behind Quackwerks (who for some reason lets Honker go), and he is revealed to be…Taurus Bulba!

What they got right: The classic mix of action and comedy is still in effect. Darkwing is back, and the identity of the villain behind Quackwerks wasn’t the one I was expecting, and it does make sense (once we’re told HOW he came back). Also, great cameo by Gadget of Chip & Dale’s Rescue Rangers, even if it does bring up a continuity question.

What they got wrong: During the villain reveal, Darkwing’s hat seems to be floating in mid-air, a classic surprise effect in cartoons, but considering the way the chair is designed, it really isn’t possible. Personally, I think they did it on purpose so I’d have SOMETHING to write here.

Recommendation: Fan of the show? Then get this comic already!

"And then I'm going back for that gopher!"
