Cartoon Network Action Pack #51

featuring Generator Rex

DC Comics (October 2010)

WRITERS: Rob Hoegee & Eugene Son
ARTISTS: Ethen Beavers & Min S. Ju
COLORS: Wildstorm FX
LETTERER: Travis Lanham
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Michael McCalister
EDITOR: Scott Peterson
COVER: Ethen Beavers & Gabe Elteb

Originally planing to take down a rogue and former Providence scientist, Rex finds out that he has Circe prisoner. He rescues her, only to find out the Pride sent her there to get a device. Now Rex has to fight enemies on two fronts.

What they got right: Not surprising with Ku on art chores, but the art is very much in keeping with the show, and the visual are nice.

What they got wrong: I actually can’t blame them for it, because it’s the curse of show-based comics. You don’t want to risk stepping on the show’s shoes and screwing up continuity you don’t know is coming. Therefor the story suffers because it’s just a basic story. No major plot happening, just Rex goes in, fights the bad guys.

Recommendation: It’s not a bad comics, but unless you’re a fan of the show, you may want to save your money.

I couldn’t even find a “Best Scene” nominee in this one.
