Slag Rodimus, THIS is your next Prime!

Transformers: Prime

IDW Publishing (October 2010)

Had I known that there was going to be an individual issue release down the road, I wouldn’t have ordered this digest-sized GN. The story is split into four parts, although a continuous story, and has different artists for each chapter, but the same writer, letter, and editor.

WRITER: Mike Johnson
LETTERERS: Chris Mowry & Robbie Robbins
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Carlos Guzman
EDITOR: Andy Scmidt
CH 1 ART: E.J. Su (artist) and Andrew Dalhouse (colors)
CH 2 ART: Atilio Martin & Allan Jefferson (pencilers); Jordi Tarragona, Sergio Abad, & Juan An Rameriez (inkers); Andrew Dalhouse (colorist)
CH 3 ART: David Daza (penciler, co-inker); Sergio Abad (co-inker); Cam & Carlos Aon (colorist)
CH 4 ART: Joe St. Pierre (penciler); Jonas Trindale (inker); Jorge Blanco & Jok (colorist)
COVER ART: Jose Lopez & Augusto Barranco

Set during the upcoming animated series on the Hub, the comic follows this universe’s Cliffjumper and Arcee as they learn to work together while trying to get to Earth. The art is good, with only minor indications of the revolving artists on the four chapters. The story makes me interested in these two character, and I do like the fresh take on Arcee while going back to Cliffjumper’s roots and going in a different direction.

Personally, I’d say wait for the four-part floppie version, even if your a “trade” person. This comic is digest-sized, which I don’t think does the comic justice. However, if they were trying to get me even more interested in the upcoming series, mission accomplished.

Tomorrow’s Comic> Transformers Animated: Bots of Science junior graphic novel–like I’ve said, I’m a sheep.
