Goldbug had been destroyed “off-screen” during the Underbase Saga because Hasbro had wanted to stop using the character altogether. However, they underestimated his fan appeal, and the original Bumblebee returned in their Classic Pretenders series. Thus, Bumblebee returned to the comics.
Under Simon Furman. Spacebooger may not understand why that bothers me, but by the time the Furman Files are complete, he will. But at least ‘Da Bee was back!

Along with ‘Da Bee was Grimlock, whom had not yet been exposed as Simon’s “pet character” to American comic readers, and Jazz, who…really didn’t do much in this fight.
As much as I love cartoon Grimlock is how much I love comic Grimlock abuse.
Yes Megatron (who also returned in a long story for US readers and a waaaaaayyyyyyy long story for UK readers–and bizarre) made quick work of Grimlock, that poser. Besides, we know who the best is.
That's right, Megatron! Now you have the Bumblebadass to deal with!

What about what Goldbug/Bumblebee wants?
…Ratchet can be a self-interested jerk. But Bumblebee is back, and Megatron is his bit….yeah, who am I kidding?
Bumblebee better than Grimlock? In one of MY stories perhaps, but Furman?
There’s only one Transformer who has ever stood a chance in the Marvel G1 Universe. No, not Grimlock, and not even Optimus Prime.
