Batman Beyond #5 (of 6)
DC Comics (December 2010)
WRITER: Adam Beechen PENCILER: Ryan Benjamin INKER: John Stansci COLORIST: David Baron LETTERER: Travis Lanham EDITOR: Chris Conroy COVER: Dustin Nguyen
Bruce is able to talk Catwoman Beyond through healing binding Terry’s wounds while Dick rescues the Cadmus scientist. Later, the scientist tells Dick and Barbara how and why they cloned Dick, but he became mentally unstable and is determined to usurp the Batman legacy–even if he has to destroy Gotham City to clean up crime!
What they got right: Well, thank god Hush wasn’t who we were led to think at the end of last issue (see my article on my problems with that comic). I like the touching moment between Terry and Bruce.
What they got wrong: Everything else. Actually the art isn’t too bad but why are there police officers in the room when the scientist is pretty much spilling the beans on Dick Grayson and Nightwing? Then there’s the fact that a number of Terry’s foes are also killed…off-panel! See my article tonight for more details on why this is a failure, or see the ComiXology version of the review if your impatient.
Recommendation: If you haven’t been getting this series, DON’T! If you’re a fan of this show, I’m betting you’re going to hate this comic.

He's still got it, doesn't he ladies?
