Iron Man and the Black Widow are investigating a UFO that crashed into the ocean. What they find is a bunch of pro-communists led by the White Spider trying to restore the Soviet Union. With Iron Man down, The Widow is able to hold them off, with a little help from the Sub-Mariner (which leads to another mystery).

What they got right: So we have another mystery. I hope this is the limit, because I’m really curious what is connecting the Sub-Mariner, Black Widow, Reed Richards. Time travel appears to be involved. The fight scenes between the Black Widow and the White Spider are well done, with only one panel making me question the ability of the human body to strike that pose.

What they got wrong: So what does the Invisible Woman do to get on the cover? She and Nova all kill time (and story) by trying to pick up Thor’s hammer. While that does bring up part of the sub-plot, it doesn’t change the fact that this is a Black Widow story (with Iron Man along for the ride) and not an Invisible Woman story.

Recommendation: Another win for this series. Worth picking up.

But if she was watching....
