There was speculation that, after the box office bombing of Astro Boy (which I sadly still have yet to see), computer animation studio Imagi may not get to their next anime-inspired film, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets/probably not Eagle Riders or G-Force. This trailer, posted to YouTube in July which yesterday popped up in my “recommended videos” list may negate any concerns.
Looks cool to me. According to Imagi’s site they are indeed going with Gatchaman instead of the more well-known (in the west and outside of the anime fandom proper) Battle of the Planets. I know I’m the only person alive who wants to see 7-Zark-7 in CG, but that’s still disappointing.
