Thor & The Warriors Four #3
Marvel Comics (August 2010)
As I said last week, I got tired of waiting for a trade for the issue #2 my comic store was shorted. Whether Marvel or Diamond are to blame, uncool move guys!
WRITER: Alex Zalben ARTIST: Gurihiru LETTERER: Dave Sharpe PRODUCTION: Damien Lucchese EDITOR: Jordan D. White SUPERVISING EDITOR: Nathan Cosby
I missed what happened last issue, but the “previously” page tells me that Thor had agreed to help Power Pack to obtain the golden apples to have their grandmother (who is dying of old age and only Alex can accept it–this I got from issue 1 that we weren’t shorted and yes I’m a bit bitter about it). Somehow Loki was able to turn all of the gods into babies. In this issue Loki tricks Power Pack (except for Alex) into helping steal the apples for him. The rest of the story is the trip.
Plus Colleen Coover‘s story of Hercules telling Power Pack about his 12 Labors continues, although Katie only wants to hear about ponies.
What they got right: The main story is decent enough and the art is great. I think Thor can see through Loki’s trick, although that’s not explicitly said in the story. Also, baby Thor is so darn cute.
What they got wrong: Personal preference, but I’m totally on Alex’s side. In the few Power Pack stories I’ve read, I would think Julie is too level-headed, even with her grandmother dieing–of old age, mind you–to steal things. Plus Coover’s back-up story has Katie bugging Herc for a story with ponies which should be cute (which Katie usually is) but I didn’t find it that way.
Recommendation: It’s a good story, even if I am missing an issue, and worth checking out.
