Unlike what I’ve heard about the Battlestar Galactica series (or as I call it, Battlestar Namesake) the original wasn’t solely about war with the Cylons. Right from the first episode there were many more threats the space convoy came across on their mission to that shining planet called Earth.
This was true in the comics. At the time Marvel licensed the series and produce a 23 issue comic book, some of which I was lucky to come across at a sale. Tonight’s fight comes from that old comic, with proof that there were plenty of strong female characters in the show without altering Starbuck and Boomer’s gender.
OK I don’t mind Boomer’s so much…

Fight Life Round 10
The Battlefield: Battlestar Galactica #21 (Marvel Comics, November 1980) “A World For The Killing!”
The Promoters: Steve Grant (writer with an assist from Walt Simonson), Brent Anderson (penciler), Klaus Janson (inker) John Costanza Et Al (?) (letterers), Alex Miller (colorist), Louise Jones (editor) and Jim Shooter (then editor-in-chief)
After fending off another Cylon raid, Athena is drawn into a pocket dimension where an alien confounds her with visions and illusions. His reason? He’s lonely.

Next time try a dating service.
Athena doesn’t take took kindly to being drawn into this guy’s mental Holodeck sorry, wrong show and decides to make a run for it.

He's also cuts his own hair.
Running outside, Athena comes across her brother Apollo and ex-boyfriend Starbuck. If anyone had read my old “Saturday Night Galactica” articles you know how that worked out. It doesn’t factor here, except to say that I’m considering returning to my trip through the entire series in a different format in the future. Stay tuned.
Anyway, hurting this guy means disrupting the planet but after Res save her life he asks for a favor. No, not that kind of favor.

Thus this fight's title.
So you could say Athena wins this fight, but Res gets to go home. Sometimes winning really isn’t everything. Although with the “comic at random”method I’ve used this tournament that doesn’t seem to be something I have to worry about.
