BW readers: Over in the sidebar is a poll to see if I should take the time to re-attempt a retrospective of the entire Battlestar Galactica series, from the original to the namesake. My only criteria is that someone would read it. Click here for more information, and then settle in for tonight’s FNF entry.

Last week I shot napalm missiles at a dragon and got nothing. Here we are in the final round of the Fight Life tournament and I apparently need something better. OK, fate, what do you have for me.

An issue Bio-Booster Armor Guyver? Great….wait, it’s all exposition this issue. I can’t use that. Try again. Hey, it’s Hero Zero, Dark Horse’s answer to Ultraman. That should have a good fight. Wait, he’s fighting a dragon? Another random dragon pick? You realize that if there’s a dragon-themed tournament I’ve just lost two possible entries in a row, right? Well, have to play by my own rules. Random pick has a fight, so here it goes.

Fight Life round 12

The Battlefield: Comics’ Greatest World: Hero Zero

This was a special series that Dark Horse had produced, short $1 comics featuring their characters in self-contained stories with a combined subplot. This is the only one I have and it just makes me want to get the rest of the Hero Zero comics. The only other one I have is the Godzilla crossover.

The Promoters (main story only): Randy Stradley (writer), Eric Shanower (artist), Clem Robins (letterer), Matthew Hollingsworth (colorist), Jerry Prosser & Jennie Bricker (editors)

From what I can gather about this series, some military base is fooling with an interdimensional portal. Things get out, usually bad things. However, Zero wants to stop these things but needs a host do it. Enter young David, who now transforms into the size-changing superhero, and tonight he’s fighting a dragon.

"Why don't you look where you're going?" "I was, how do you think I hit you?"

Not that it’s worth missing a good night’s sleep for, but I’m not a teenage superhero.

How will he explain that to his dentist?

At this point David is still new at the kaiju-busting game, but he still manages to hold his own.

This is not a favorite comic in China, I would imagine.

The dragon then tries to create a fog to escape in, but he suffers from the usual villain problem: not shutting up in a fight.

"What should I talk about, because I love to talk about stuff, like one day my friend Nicole and I..."

And Zero punches him so hard that…well, see for yourself.

Next time don't make you monster out of paper mache.

So what’s going on? Beats me. There’s other stuff happening in the issue as well that was part of the overall story arc (this was week #2 of this arc) which I don’t have so I couldn’t begin to explain it. Not that Spacebooger cares, he just wants to see some fightin’. Speaking of which…

click to vote in this week's tournament

It’s the end of THIS tournament, but head to Spacebooger to see who the final entrant will be in the Grand Championship. (You have to vote them in, so check all the entries.) And maybe next tournament you can join us in the fighting action. All you need is blog space and a lot of comics.

For those reading the crosspost at the That Guy blogspace, next week I’ll be posting my usual Best of Friday Night Fights. The Grand Championship for the Fight Life tournament won’t be for two weeks, so during the break I go back through old tournaments to see what my favorite was. Since I haven’t posted any others previous I’ll repost them at the That Guy “annex” to further promote the FNF awesomeness, and give you all a brief history of the tournament. Maybe that will convince a few of you to join us next fight!

For my regular BW readers, you can hit the Best of FNF archives yourself in the sidebar (Friday Night Fights appears under the “Comic Spotlight” category) and get caught up. Happy fighting!
