Adventures of the Mask #2
Dark Horse Comics (February 1996)
WRITER: Michael Eury PENCILER: Neil Vokes INKER: Jay Geldhof LETTERER: Clem Robins COLORIST: Matt Webb COVER ARTIST: Bruce Timm DESIGNER: Julie Gassaway CREATOR/CONSULTING EDITOR: Mike Richardson EDITOR: Greg Vest
In the second half of the pilot adaptation, Stanley is able to get past Walter (thanks to the Mask) but Pretorious goes after Milo and Peggy in hopes of getting the mask.
What they got right: As I said in the review of the previous issue, splitting the adaptation up is a good idea, and it’s a good adaptation.
What they got wrong: Nothing, really. What little screw-ups there were took place last issue, like the introduction of Lars.
Recommendation: If you want original stories and not episode adaptations, the next time I do a “Yesterday’s” Comic review will start with issue #3, which is an original story for the comics and introduces a recurring character exclusive to the comics. Otherwise, if you find this comic, give it a look. You may like it.
Up Next: Obviously no “Best Scene” this week, but we’ll still have a Weekly Wrap-Up and a Jake & Leon strip. I WAS able to get new comics so next week it’s back to the same old system.
