Of course I’m referring to the web comic Comic Critics, about a trio of video comic reviewers. You should check it out because it’s a good comic and click on my comic to learn about my attempt to give Leon something to do in the comic, like Jake’s cartooning.
Speaking of online critics:
Episode 6 of Saturday Night Showcasee Apollo Z Hack’s Reviewaverse Saga (no longer on Xtreme Network Online, as they have merged with the Geek Fighters to create Reviewtopia), featuring an audio cameo by yours truly (you hear part of it in the trailer), is in post production. That run-on sentence means my acting debut is coming soon. I’m sure once it’s up my door…will have nothing to worry about, but you should still check it out.
So while we wait to see if I’ve killed Apollo’s career, let’s check out the latest news briefs.
comics
- So you want to create your own superheroes and supervillains but don’t know where to start? Try this article.
- Is the Flash comic really gone or just until this “Flashpoint” stuff is over. This should have been an article, but again I just can’t find the desire to give a slag long enough to care anymore.
- Dynamite Entertainment is getting the Voltron comic. On the one hand, they made Buck Rogers. On the other hand, The Last Phantom. KEEP ALEX ROSS AWAY FROM VOLTRON unless he approaches it like the excellent Battle of the Planets and NOT like The Phantom.
- Anime reviewer Don East posted an edition of his show Anime Abomination with a look at Wildstorm’s Thundercats/Battle of the Planets crossover. Just in case you thought I was exaggerating in my review.
television/movies
- Did anybody know that Bambi was controversial? Or what it almost did to Walt Disney?
- While one reviewer (potential spoilers for an early script) is happy to see that Thor will feature a “manly” man (a proper one and not an %%^hole, I hope), I’m disappointed that Jane is redone and there’s no Donald Blake. Whatever happened to secret identities?
- I like the line “Terran Nova: it’s so amazing we can’t even make it!”.
- Power Rangers showrunner Johnathan Tzachor may consider the Disney-produced shows non-canon, but I for one consider them in canon and he is wrong and disrespectful for that bash.
- We have a brief look at the new Ninja Turtles cartoon from Nickelodeon. There’s not really enough to comment on.
- Also footage of the new Looney Tunes. I’m underwhelmed. Has anything been done right with the characters since Tiny Toons because I’m drawing a blank?
- Disney announced some of their upcoming shows. Are they really doing a Tron cartoon? Well, the junior line-up is getting Peter Pan and the Seven Dwarfs (not in the same show, though).
video games
- Two sources of Portal 2 news, one from Kotaku and video from The Spoony Experiment. Why is Valve waiting so long to take my money?
- A new Transformers: Prime MMO is in production. If it turns out to be good, sign me up!
in other news
- The Clutter Reports: For a time I actually collected those electronic index toys. Specifically the original Pokédek, The Shepard’s Journal, the Dino Dex, and the Jedi Dex. Anyone else know what I’m talking about?
- This Week’s Cracked: When you’re planning to invade another planet, which planet you chose is very important. Just take a look at 6 Giant Blind Spots In Every Movie Alien’s Invasion Strategy. You’d think these would be a given.

Now I’m going to do some comic reviews and catch up with my TV watching.
