Ka-Zar offers Peter the only real challenge at hide-and-seek.

Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man V2 #13

Marvel Comics (June 2011)

WRITER: Paul Tobin
PENCILER: Roberto DiSalvo
INKER: Terry Pallot
COLORIST: Sotocolor
LETTERER: Dave Sharpe
COVER ART: Kitson & Guru eFx
PRODUCTION: Damien Lucchese
ASSISTANT EDITOR: Rachel Pinnelas
SENIOR EDITOR: Tom Brennan

On vacation with Aunt May in England, Peter gets wrapped up with a local group of teens who like to investigate the paranormal. When he hears about dinosaurs in the English Moors, Spider-Man investigates and comes across Ka-Zar and his sabertooth tiger, Zabu, who are looking for dinosaurs stolen by a poacher and his bodyguard, the mutant Sabertooth.

What they got right: The small touches are what makes this story, like Sabertooth vs. sabertooth tiger gag, and the bit about having nothing to shoot a web onto for webswinging.

What they got wrong: The TUFF kids, Britian’s version of the Scooby-Doo gang, I imagine, minus the talking dog. They seemed like interesting characters, but nothing every happens with them. They’re kind of unnecessary to the story.

Recommendation: One of Tobin’s better stories for this title. Worth picking up.
