At the time I started producing this week’s comic all we saw with the Superman reboot costume were the boots, the collar, and the removal of the “red underwear” that people like to complain about. {expletive deleted) them, I say but today we got a look at the full Justice League roster:
How do you respond to that? We’ll have to wait until tomorrow, since we have other stuff to talk about today. I will remind you to click on the comic for the behind the scenes page to learn why panel 1 looks good to me and why I mixed art styles for this one. And now…news.
comics
- What if the Technicolor Lanterns had been introduced in the Silver Age?
- A case made for Marvel and DC putting out webcomics. Start USING the internet for something besides press releases, guys. I have a few ideas myself, which I should consider making an article for.
- One of the problems not going away for the new DCU is poor timing for releases. Are they even trying?
- Gee, when you put it this way, X-Men continuity sounds downright silly. Frankencastle does come off more tame, now.
- Rob Liefeld is bringing back his Extreme Comics brand. Linkara cried in pain. Although it’s bigger news that he drew a superheroine with believable anatomy. That waist could actually exist. Apparently doing it while driving is to his benefit. Other drivers, however, probably not as much.
- The super-spinoff gimmick is getting old. (Throw that on the list, actually.)
- Jim Shooter has been active lately on his blog, discussing his history. Of course of particular interest to me are his Transformers recollections. (Part 1) (Part 2)
television/movies
- Comic fans who want to be on TV, Kevin Smith wants you! Not that the world need another reality show.
- First Lady Michele Obama is set to appear on Nickelodeon’s iCarly, but I’m more confused by the plot.
- Ben 10‘s next live-action movie will be on the big screen.
- One station is refusing to air The Playboy Club.
- Talks have begun for an actress to play Lara-El in the new Superman movie. Does somebody think you can’t make a SUPERMAN movie without big-name stars attached? Really?
- Here’s 10 things I didn’t know about Star Wars. Did you?
- In Transformers movie news, it appears the reason for Megan Fox leaving was actually Steven Spielberg! Also it’s a bit of a surprise whose music will be in #3–Christian rock group Skillet–but I’m cool with it. 🙂 Here’s the song itself, by the way.
video games
- The video game version of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, produced by the same guys who made War For Cybertron so they know they’re stuff, is on the way, but sadly not on PC.
- A game where the X-Box and PS3 users can duel each other? Not a chance!
- Yet more on the Wii U’s mysterious controller. I still wish we had gotten more good news from them than we did.
- This week Kotaku unveiled a new translation of an old series from Japan called Retro Game Master. Episode one involves one of, if not the, hardest game on the NES: Ninja Gaiden!
- A gaming grandmother never got to see one particular game.
in other news
- Could this be the earliest known museum?
- What is the most scientifically plausible super power?
- Recent celebrities passings: comic art legend Gene Colan, music legends Clarence “Big Man” Clemons & Carl Gardner and acting legends Peter Falk & James Arness.
- The Clutter Reports: Back to work. This time I organized my entire bookshelf. Which reminds me I need to get back to War For Cybertron for Chapter By Chapter.
- This Week’s Cracked: Quentin Tarantino co-wrote what? Leonard Nimoy directed that? Wes Craven? And that’s just the first three of 8 Famous Movies Made by The Last Person You’d Expect. Prepare to blow your mind.
Best Scene of This Week’s Reviews
Doctor Who V2 #6

I would have given it to Love & Capes but it mostly works in context to the story. This one was just fun all around. So yeah, next week I finally have to comment on the full post-Flashpoint DCU solicits.
I wish I got paid to torture myself like this.
