When we last left Rocket Man and his friends they were fighting a double battle against melting rock and missing chunks of the video. How will they survive for their Suicide Flight, and why is now even the title card being edited out of the video?
I wonder if Dr. Vulcan insures his thugs take target practice? Hasn’t looked like it thus far.
You know, I always thought that the flying effect (which uses a mannequin on a set of strings and pulleys) first showed up in the constantly mentioned Adventures of Captain Marvel but according to Wikipedia the first use of this trick was an earlier serial, Darkest Africa. There aren’t any superheroes listed (not every serial involved super heroics or science fiction, some were straight up adventure stories, crime dramas, or cowboy stories) but it does mention a group of “bat-men” (no connection to Bruce Wayne). Darkest Africa was also the first serial under the Republic Pictures brand name, and was a “loose sequel” to another serial, The Lost Jungle (featuring the same hero), produced by Mascot Pictures, one of the six studios that was merged into Republic.
How well can Rocket Man dodge bullet or did the now truly late professor (I was sorry to see him go) think to make it bulletproof? Be with for “10 Seconds To Live” at this website next week.
