Archangels: The Saga #3
Eternal Publishing (August, 1996)
WRITERS: Patrick Scott & John Leger PENCILERS: Andy Orjuela, Jim Hall INKER: Russ Sever COLORISTS: Andy Orjuela, Ian, Rob, Alex, James Harrell COLOR ASSIST: Chris McHugh LETTERER: Darin Coin LETTER ASSIST: John Leger CREATORS: Patrick Scott, John Leger, and Andy OrjuelaThey started getting a larger staff around this time, obviously.
Another angel loses his charge, a courier who found out what he was carrying, to both demons and the courier’s boss, a drug dealer who now (again at the demons’ urging) wants to bring Justin into the fold. Cameron won’t stand for that and this time he won’t stand alone.
What they got right: The story is flowing much better this time, introducing additional characters and dividing time between the angels and humans. Also, the layouts are better, althought we still get one of those sideways, two-page spreads.
What they got wrong: Maybe it was the problems I had with the first two issues not being present, but I really don’t have any complaints this issue.
Recommendation: Combine this with the first two issues and you have a better idea of why I enjoyed this comic. I would kind of recommend starting here, and then going back to #s 1 & 2 to get the backstory.
Next week we resume with new comics, but tomorrow will have the Best Scene of the Week for the two worthy comics.
