I think Phalyn overdid it on the eye drops.

The Archangels Darius and Shiro, with an assist from Kai, rescue Cameron from the Vrakil, but Justin has accepted the job with the nightclub. The owner hopes to frame Justin and hide her involvement in the murder of her delivery boy, but two detectives, Avery and Mitchell, are on to her. While Nicole talks Justin out of working for the club, the Vrakil leader, Phalyn, uses Seth and Alexis to talk him into one delivery, which doesn’t sit well with another demon, Necros.

What they got right: A nice job on the demon designs; they look all evil and stuff. The story continues to be interesting, if not slowed down by the poor space usage. (It was the 90’s.) You get a good sense of the characters, and Justin’s survivor’s guilt. Plus the fight scene between the angels and demons was well done.

What they got wrong: The aforementioned space usage. Phalyn introduced another demon, Dramog, and the story just ends, with no real sense that we’re supposed to be worried about this new addition to the Vrakil. There is a scene with Nicole and Justin talking and at first glance it looks like one page after another, but it’s actually two pages forming one “page” of story, meaning I had to reread that part in order to get the sequence right. Another page is a rather odd layout choice, when the detectives question Alexis. It kind of goes backwards, like I’m reading an unflipped manga or something.

Recommendation: Once you get past the failings of the 90’s it’s not a bad comic. Still something you want to read the whole thing for rather than one issue.
