All-New Batman: The Brave & The Bold #12
DC Comics (December, 2011)
WRITER: Sholly Fisch ARTIST: Ethen Beavers COLORIST: Guy Major LETTERER: Dezi Sienty EDITOR: Jim Chadwick COVER: Rich Burchett, Dan Davis, & Gabe Eltaeb
Cain, caretaker of the House of Secrets, acquires the aid of Batman and Zatanna at the House of Mystery when it’s caretaker, Abel, is turned into a tree. The heroes make requests of various mystic villains before uncovering the real culprit, leading to DC’s various mystical heroes & villains getting into an all-out brawl.
What they got right: This being a Halloween issue, Fisch makes good use of the more mystical elements of the DC Universe. I also like the running gag about guys trying to hit on Zatanna. Luckily, she also proves herself as a magician crimefighter so there’s more to her than that. Plus, it’s a good mystery.
What they got wrong: I’m not particularly into the mystical aspects of DC so if they messed something up I wouldn’t be the one to be able to tell you.
Recommendation: A fun comic for Halloween if the whole mystical thing is for you.

All set for Thanksgiving at Macy's.
