Now that we’ve seen what the big boys are up to, what about the rest of the comic industry, or rather, the ones I care about. Beyond the big two, there are plenty of interesting comics to read, but that doesn’t mean it jibes with my interests. Here’s the stuff that does.
- Normally I couldn’t care less that IDW is doing another “Infestation” crossover, except that the first one was canon for Transformers. For the next crossover, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be involved and this time instead of the regular TFU (due to the relaunch–I’m getting really tired of that word) it will take place in the “Hearts of Steel” universe, which I would hope means another mini or perhaps someone else doing an “Evolutions” of their own, as was originally intended.
- So Rob Liefeld is going to bring Extreme Studios back again. I know a lot of people care; I am not one of them.
- Video interview with Stan Lee and Terry Dougas about setting Romeo & Juliet in a post apocalypse setting. Just pray it isn’t another Stripperella.
- Interesting comment from Frank Miller about his Holy Terror novel during the Legendary Comics panel.
As for the motivation for “Holy Terror,” Miller said, “I woke up one beautiful September morning and some maniacs flew some airplanes into the tallest towers of my city and incinerated 3000 of my neighbors. I am too old to be in service to my country, but I do have a set of skills, and I decided to use them to address this and do a piece of propaganda about al Qaeda and what it is. I have to specify here, because it’s an obvious shot to take, that this is not a religious tract; it’s a political one.”
Miller continued saying, “I don’t know squat about Islam, but I know a lot about al Qaeda and I want them all to burn in hell.”
I didn’t know I could cheer and facepalm at the same time.
- Arachia held a panel about how to create a graphic novel. Odd to see an instructional panel at NYCC, or at least to hear about it in reports, and sponsored by a relatively known name in smaller publishers.
- The latest on the upcoming Star Wars MMO set to release in December. Guess whose family isn’t getting Christmas present. Mine will, because I don’t play MMOs and Christmas is more important than Star Wars. Happy Life Day indeed.
- The Image Panel: If not for BW Fave Landry Walker discussing his upcoming (not for kids) project, I really wouldn’t care.
Well, this is all I found out about NYCC. Tomorrow it’s back to the usual stuff and our Friday Night Fight.

You did not mention Archie’s New Crusaders!

I didn’t see any Archie panels in the NYCC reports I checked out. One person mentioned a spoiler about Sonic The Hedgehog but that was all I heard. What’s New Crusaders and what’s happening with it?
