I thought I was never going to get a Zeo parody done, which meant that getting caught up with all the Ranger parodies would be highly unlikely. But yeah, the Zeo Zords never caught on with me, mostly because of what Tanya says, about how the towers have to be dragged by the ground-based animal Zords. Sure, it made sense for the original Sentai, but it didn’t feel like an upgrade for the Zords. I think this one of the point in favor of creating new Ranger teams every time they have to change source footage.
Some interesting notes about the site: Von Allan responded and corrected a statement I made in my review of Stargazer Vol.2, so check that out. There was also an interesting discussion going on in the comments for one of my old Saturday Night Showcases, the Filmation-style comic version of the Star Trek fanseries, Starship Farragut. Basically, someone heard that one of the actor had a falling out with the crew. I did send an e-mail to John Broghton, the creator and lead actor of the series to get his response (not wanting to leave a rumor like that lying on my site unopposed) and while he did reply to the e-mail he couldn’t find the post or something. A couple of the other participants in the comic, however, did clear things up.
Elsewhere in BW news
- The Clutter Reports: During the power outage, and while BW HQ wasn’t too cold to hang out in, I did take the opportunity to clean and set-up a display shelf for my Bumblebee collection. Good timing, since I was able to add to that collection, and hope to have another addition so I can review them together next week.
- Reviewers Unknown: Continuing my retooling of the “Team Godzilla” idea, this time the “guardian monsters”, which yes would include Godzilla and no would NOT include Ghidorah.
- A note about This Week’s Cracked: I don’t really contribute to this site, so unless there’s a huge call for it, with the new Sunday format I may drop this section and just post an article link like the other stuff I used to link to every Sunday as filler article links. (Actually, I have so many still in “storage” that I may do another “catch-up” article this week just to clear out my collection.) Note that I usually stick only to articles that examine movies and comics from a storytelling perspective as a source of comedy. This should leave me some extra time. Besides, I link to the good stuff when it pops up in my Twitter feed.
- This Week’s (final) Cracked: Ever wonder about the boring parts of a character’s life once the movie ends? Well, it might be boring to you but “6 Happy Endings That Accidentally Screwed The Movie’s Hero” decides to bring that pesky “real world” into the movie. You know, that “realism” stuff certain parties insist we need in our stories. When invisible aliens kill all your friends, little girls are drawn into crimefighting-by-murder, traveling heroes steal princesses away from evil kings, fake substitute teachers start rock bands with students without telling their parents, you defend yourself from the psycho you railroaded into prison (where he may have become said psycho), and you’re at the whim of a typewriter and a writer of questionable morality, your life is never the same after the credits roll. This isn’t the first time they gone to this for comedy, and hopefully it won’t be the last.
