They take Dancing With The Stars very seriously in the Battle Bird Armada.

Sonic Universe #34

Archie Comics (January, 2012)

WRITER/PENCILER: Tracy Yardley
INKER: Jim Amash
COLORIST: Steve Downer
LETTERER: Patrick Williams
COVER: Yardly & Herms
EDITOR: Paul Kaminski

Speedy and a group of drones have their feathers handed to them by the Rogues, so the Battle Lord himself has to get involved. The Rogues are forced to both rejoin the Armada and hand over the cube which, joined by an artifact the Battle Lord already has, points to the Babylon Garden, and it’s near New Mobotropolis.

What they got right: Some recent research informs me that the Battle Bird Armada is actually from an old Game Gear game I’ve never heard of but the connection to the Rogues is still Archie’s concept. And we finally get to see the Battle Lord himself in action and he can certainly fight. Yardley is doing a good job giving everyone personalities. The Rogues are fun to watch in action and I like the designs for the bird drones.

What they got wrong: Honestly, nothing. While I won’t run out and call it the coolest Sonic story ever, it’s still a darn good one.

Recommendation: This is still my favorite of the Sonic titles, and definitely worth picking up.

Somebody's been watching Iron Man.
