The best part about these covers is that they're as awesome as the comic.

Super Dinosaur #6

Image Comics/Skybound (November, 2011)

WRITER/CO-CREATOR: Robert Kirkman
ARTIST/COLORIST/CO-CREATOR: Jason Howard
LETTERER: Rus Wooton
EDITOR: Sina Grace

SD and Derek take on Squidious and cut him off from Inner Earth. This allows the Void to create a mutiny. The Dino-Men break into Maximus’ old headquarters to claim it as their new home. Meanwhile, Derek makes a version of Wheels for Erin while Erica tries to make friends with Super Dinosaur and Dr. D learns more about his missing wife.

What they got right: Somewhere in between the crazy ideas and action they found a way to include character development without sacrificing one or the other. The artwork also continues to be top-notch. Finally, the cover does exactly what a comic book cover should do and sells the adventure inside. That’s rare for a comic cover these days, most of which seem to be just static pin-ups. That’s fine for issue #1 since your selling the whole series, but by #2 it should be tailored to the story like these are.

What they got wrong: A recap page might have been helpful, since we’re just dropped right in after the events of last issue.

Recommendation: For every kid or kid at heart, Super Dinosaur is a must for your comic collection.

It's hard to choose one moment, but squid using coral for arms and legs? Yeah, had to go with that.
