Batman: The Brave & The Bold #14
[Seems odd to drop the “All-New” now. With a new Batman cartoon on the way it’s not like this series is going to last much longer if they’re true to form.]
DC Comics (February, 2011)
WRITER: Sholly Fish PENCILER: Rick Burchett INKER: Dan Davis COLORIST: Guy Major LETTERER: Dezi Sienty ASSISTANT EDITOR: Sarah Gaydos EDITOR: Jim Chadwick COVER CO-ARTIST: Gabe Eltaeb (along with Burchett & Davis)Fun note, the co-artist’s name spelled “backwards” is “beatle” and Blue Beetle makes a cameo. I’m thinking pen name (I wonder who his favorite of the Beatles is) or one doozy of a coincidence.
After stopping three color-based villains from threatening to color the snow and ruining Christmas (yea, that happened), Batman comes across Ragman, who is having a faith crisis. Meanwhile, someone is buying up the local property and their methods may be less than ethical.
What they got right: Ragman isn’t a character we get to see very often so it’s nice that he gets some attention. While Chanukah isn’t as important to the Jewish faith as Christmas is to the Christian faith (don’t look at me like that, the BIG Jewish holidays take place at different points of the year than the Christian ones except for Passover/Easter, okay?) it’s still a good theme for a holiday story.
What they got wrong: I’ve got nothing to complain about on this one.
Recommendation: Whether your Jewish or not, this was a good story like most of this series, and very much recommended.

They get taken down in one panel.
Just so you know, I’m combining last week’s and this week’s reviews into Best Scene of the “Week”. Two of the comics (this one and tomorrow’s) were picked up last week but didn’t get reviewed because of the holidays. Plus there were only two nominees last week and who doesn’t love a good challenge?
