Remember when I did a comic to promote Crossoverlord and followed it up when it ended? Well, the guys who worked on that started a new comic around the time I started the “Marvel War” arc so I didn’t get the chance to promote Crossoverkill, a new team-up comic featuring different webcomic superheroes. Since I needed an extra strip to get to #100 (yes, I have every strip up to 100 planned out if not actually drawn), I thought it was about bloody time.
Now before I get into more self-promotion, I need to address something that’s bugging me this weekend thanks to my Twitter feed. A number of people I follow, including a comic artist I have the otherwise highest respect for, decided to take a shot at Tim Tebow. I’m guessing his team (I don’t follow sports) didn’t win because they took great delight in some variation of “where is your God now” or “God doesn’t care about making your team win”. Frankly, it’s getting to the point where I’m getting offended and I’m not even a Tebow fan. As I posted to Twitter:

Seriously, why is getting on one knee and thanking God considered so offensive to some of you guys? Does it change the game that much for you? If he wants to give someone else the credit for his successful plays why do you have a problem with that? No, God doesn’t win the game for them. It wouldn’t be fair to the opposing team, especially the Christians on that team! What God did was give him the talent (which Tebow had to develop to be as good as he is), get him through the game without injury, and give him a platform to share his faith. God isn’t going to win him the game and being a Christian doesn’t mean life is handed to you on a silver platter, or I’d already have my own place and a successful comic career. So making fun of him by saying “where is your God” shows not only how little you understand but how little you care about respecting other people’s beliefs. Which considering how some of you complain about how we supposedly don’t care about yours is hypocritical. I’m sorry that some guy kneeling after a game is offensive to you, but that’s on you, not Tim Tebow.
Seriously, guys, give it a rest because your insulting me as well and I’m tired of seeing this stuff, even from people I can have interesting conversations with regardless of whether or not we agree. I’ve unfollowed people on Twitter not because they don’t agree with my social/political/spiritual beliefs but because they outright trash them and treat people like me as morons or jackasses, showing no respect for me or people like me at all. If you want respect, show it. I always try to and that’s all I ask from others, agree with my point of view or not.
Now then, on to what else I wrote this week:
- The Clutter Reports: Another DVD down as I take a look at the second Batman movie serial, 1949’s Batman and Robin. I promise that it’s not as bad as the 90’s film.
- Reviewers Unknown: A retooling of my review of The Adventures of Captain Marvel, which I hope to use to make the first of a new article series on RU where I review movie serials. Had I the resources to do it the way I wanted, I would make it into a video review. I explain in the new opening.
Speaking of Captain Marvel, I want to welcome RU’s official comic reviewer, Writrzblok, host of Way or No Way. I’m a general storytelling reviewer mostly, but I really enjoy the show thus far and he’s currently posting reviews of a Superman/Captain Marvel team-up and he’s a huge Shazam! fan. I think he’s the first new contributor since I joined up, we just gained an anime reviewer and there is one more on the way. That’s on top of the already great selection of video and text reviewers on the site. Which reminds me, I need to send an avatar and tagline to our webmistress.

Godzilla Legends #3

Not the wake-up call I would want.
There’s a lot of DC commentary this week. 6 titles canceled, 6 new titles, and a really boring new company logo. Prepare to hear a DC fanboy complain again.
