I follow many people on Twitter, a number of whom have never heard of each other. If I were to put them into groups then most of them had at least one person tweeting tonight’s entry this week. Numerous websites linked to it like I’m doing tonight. It was all over the internet. I post this mostly for archival purposes, so that it can be linked to when needed and maybe someone will come across it.
It’s no secret that I love a good intro, but sometimes a good fake intro makes me wish the actual show existed. This is indeed the case with tonight’s entry. Grab your saddle and prepare to ride with…the Space Stallions!
The official plot outline goes as follows:
As darkness is covering the multiverse, far away in the galaxy of the wild stallion, a spark of hope is born. Guided by the light of Mother Mustang, the Space Stallions must defeat the Demon of darkness, Destructo.
I do have to ask why “Optica” didn’t get a “ray” name like the boys, but maybe there’s an in-story reason. 🙂 Created as student film for Danish animation school The Animation Workshop, there’s something of an 80’s vibe, right down to one character’s sword turning into a keytar. Co-produced by Torvaldur Gunnarson (is that his real name?) and Johatan Brusch (who has the less awesome name), the animation may have been done on computer, but I would put it up there with the hand-drawn stuff of the day and I can imagine kids sitting down to watch this show. I could also see me sitting down to watch this show. What I’m saying is…someone greenlight this show already!
Maybe they will. Space Stallions has it’s own Facebook page and the theme song is available for download in both sung and instrumental flavors. I see some good things for these boys and hopefully the concept as well.
