In the main story, the Freedom Fighters escort the Royal Family to their secret hiding place when Eggman attacks, and one of the team is seriously injured. In the back-up story we learn that Naugus tipped off Eggman.
What they got right: Once again this is how you do it. The injured Fighter doesn’t feel like he was injured for shock value (although with some of the things happening at Archie these days I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re doing this for headlines) but if they are this is how you do it. If he does go down, he goes down with a purpose.
What they got wrong: I hope he pulls through, though, since they’re losing too many of the main cast members as it is. Also, they’re pushing #250 a bit hard in the letters and news sections. It’s too early and you shouldn’t just write to the milestones.
Recommendation: This is still an easily recommended series, although I think what’s happening in other comic universes makes this look like Archie is beginning to follow DC and Marvel’s bad ideas.
WARNING: Best Scene nomination is a spoiler for this issue!
