Superman fights a construct in the middle of the city. Back at the Planet, Clark ends up gaining Jimmy as a temporary roommate and having to pick up Lois’s sister. This is all forgotten when the construct appears in the office and (after he changes) teleports Superman to the Himalayas to meet his master, Helspont.
What they got right: One of the most important things that was missing last arc arrives in this arc: humor. The scene with Lois, Clark, Jimmy, and Perry was just fun to watch. We get some good action, and we get to see how Jim Lee’s armor transforms.
What they got wrong: Which apparently starts with the normal costume so we can still get the famous “opening his shirt to reveal the ‘S’ ” pose. Then the “S” glows and what appears to be nanites changes into the armor. I actually don’t mind that last part too much but it still feels wrong for Superman. And Helspont? Who asked for the Superman/Helspont battle, because I know I didn’t. Besides, Helspont just kind of rambles on when he meets Superman. Will he explain himself next issue?
Recommendation: After what just happened in Justice League International I was a bit worried, but this may end up being the Superman comic I was looking for. Time will tell, however.
