Sonic The Hedgehog #235
Archie Comics (May, 2012)
“REMEMBER THE FALLEN” WRITER: Ian Flynn PENCILER: Tracy Yardley INKER: Terry Austin COLORIST: Matt Herms LETTERER: John Workman ASSISTANT EDITOR: Vincent Lovallo EDITOR: Paul Kaminski
Things get worse for our heroes beyond Antoine being in the hospital clinging to life. Bunnie blames herself and plans to do something about it. Tails’ father comforts his son and Sonic’s family comforts Amy, who has been trying to help everyone else. Rotor resigns from the council when they vote to ban Nicole. Naturally, this is the worst time for Silver to pop up, continuing his traitor hunt, but he may finally get some help.
What they got right: The majority of this story is the team dealing with all of the losses they’ve had thus far and while it might be considered a bit dark or mature for a kids comic, this is an all-ages comic and does well balancing the story for both age brackets.
What they got wrong: Silver gets put through a lot of crap to the point that he comes off as incompetent (not on purpose in the writer’s case) which he isn’t; he’s just a bit too impulsive for his own good. Hopefully theSonic Universe arc teased at the end of the issue will redeem the poor guy.
Recommendation: Unless you already have a strong tie to these characters you’re not going to get the full experience of this story. If you do, I very much recommend it.
No one moment stood apart for a Best Scene nomination.
